Man! I'm still shocked! Today I did it like good ol' Eminem and went cleaning out my closet, and what did I find? A bad surprise! Remember the rosé-sweater that I did a while ago? In my photo gallery you can see it on the first 5 pics - well, I love this sweater dearly and have worn it quite a couple of times. What I didn't think then was that I should take care of the make-up I'm wearing... I tend to wear foundation now in autumn and winter when I go out - in summer I get a natural tan quickly, even in the shade as I found out this year, but in winter I'm frighteningly pale - and to prevent people from asking me if I'm sick and also to feel better with myself I wear foundation. Yeah, big deal. But - foundation and rosé-colored sweaters don't get along, that's what I found out today. See:

Ain't it a nightmare? That's the neckline of the sweater, and this must be a make-up stain. Duh. DUH!!! Now - the yarn I was using is 100% cotton, so I smashed the sweater into the washing machine, "wool-wash cold", 30 degrees - the sweater came out nicely washed, fitting even better than before - but the stain is still here! I'm frustrated! Chances are that it's pretty much invisible when I wear the sweater, my hair will mostly hang over this spot - but I know it's there and it bothers me big, big time! Does any of you perhaps have an idea or any experiences with such make-up-stains, do you perhaps know a trick how to get rid of that - or make it at least a bit less visible? I'd be ever so grateful, ladies!
Dublin is coming closer - in 2 days at this time we'll be in the plane, nearing the British Isles, hallelujah! I was quite busy these past days preparing everything - it's just a short trip, but there's still a lot to do, like cleaning this place spotless so that my MIL won't have a reason to complain about my housewifey abilities when she comes over taking care of our kitty - and well, in the evenings I was pretty knackered, to say the least ;) But, I still did a bit of work on the Boho-sweater - voilá, the first sleeve is done:

I haven't yet blocked the back part to see whether it's too tight or not - but it better not be, I have exactly 2 skeins of this yarn left which will be enough for the second sleeve, crocheting around the edges and the sewing job, but nothing more - so no ripping and re-knitting in case it doesn't fit. Okay, I could get hold of a couple more skeins of this yarn, it's still available in stores, at least in Germany - but well, let's see what a bit of good blocking can do. The front was done a bit wider, so I think I can make this work out - otherwise I'll just have to lose a couple kilos ;)
A while ago I hit it big at Ebay and received two lovely packages in the mail yesterday - some really cheap and yummy yarns! Seems like an early XMas for me, it's so much fun and so exciting to receive yarn in the mail, don't you think so too? Here's a sneak peek into the parcels:

And here's the yarn in all its glory:

This is "Acapulco" from Lammy, a Dutch company - I got 10 skeins á 50g of it and it's a cotton mix, seems to be perfect for a light summer top - something lacey pops up in my mind ;)
This turquoise yarn kicks me big time:

I almost jumped with joy when I saw it, it's so much more intensive in color than it was on the EBay-pic - yay for that! It's called "Bingo", 100% mercerised cotton - very gorgeous stuff! The Ebay-seller was kind enough to add 3 skeins of "Picnic" by Online as a gift -

- it's a fancy effect yarn - you know that I'm not particularly keen on that, I mean, I wouldn't knit a whole sweater out of it - but it seems to fit the turquoise yarn so perfectly, it's really as if it's been made for it. And mind you, I will find a pattern that combines these both yarns, and if I don't find one, I'll design one ;)On Sunday CM and me got our lazy butts in gear and did a bit of hiking - we had one more gorgeous Indian Summer-Day - I wonder how long this Indian Summer will last? Hopefully till spring? Okay, no way unfortunately, but it's supposed to stay as nice and warm as it has been these past weeks for at least one more week - then we have December and I guess we're all ready then for a bit of winter weather. Unfortunately that warmth doesn't seem to have hit Ireland as well, the weather forecast for Dublin says rain, rain, rain and a pretty strong wind - oh well, we'll cope with that, that's for sure! I hope the wind won't blow us out of a pub, or, worse, blows my Guinness away from me? Heaven help!
Anyhoo, we went hiking, right on through the woods, over sticks and stones up onto the mountain - not totally up, but halfway up. In the meantime we bought ourselves a bit of hiking/trekking gear - as Tyroleans we do have our "good" shoes, you won't ever find any of us going uphill with "incorrect" shoes - but now we bought ourselves Trekking poles, and my gosh, they are amazing! Some of you may remember CMs and my walk downhill a couple months back where we spent almost a week in heavy pain afterwards - walking downhill seems to be pure hell for bones, muscles and especially for the knees, that's what I learned later on, and mind you, we felt that. Ouch! Now, with these poles I think I could walk downhill for days and days and wouldn't feel much pain except for the basic sore muscles - and the hiking uphill goes so smoothly with that too! Biggest recommendation - if you're walking/trekking/hiking a lot, get such sticks for yourselves!
We hiked up through the woods, there were a lot of leaves on the ground which made for a quite slippery path, but these poles do give a real feeling of security, you can smash your whole weight on them and just feel safe. And they make it very easy to walk really fast! I'm usually a pretty fast walker, when we stroll through the city or wherever I often find myself a couple steps in front of CM and then have to wait for him - I'm used to walking quickly it seems, have always done that, heaven knows why. So, now with these poles I was almost running up the hill, and - surprise - CM did so a long time as well, he also feels such a positive effect through the trekking poles! Goodie, we sure burned some calories - which was a good thing because afterwards we did a break in a restaurant up there and had lunch - and oy, of course I had to smash a huge "Topfenstrudel" into myself - with whipped cream! Argh! I think I didn't have whipped cream for, like, 7 years or so. The first spoonful tasted like heaven, but then I almost puked, way too fat it is!
With this perfect weather we just had to do a couple pics for you girls - enjoy!

This is part of the city of Innsbruck - basically the center of town without the outer areas. At the very front, pretty much on the left, you can even see where I live - I put a little white spot there. In the back you can see something like a big bridge, this is the motorway to Italy - on the left of it there's a big building, that's our soccer stadium, the "Tivoli" where the Europe Cup will be held next year - and the building in the front of it is where I basically live in winter - the ice arena ;) On the upper right side you can see right into Italy - on clear summer days you get to see much farther, a truly breathtaking view!

This is one of the typical old houses over here, they can be still found basically everywhere, especially in villages in the mountains, nicely renovated - this is typical Tyrolean style. I wouldn't necessarily want to live in such an old house, but I admit, it's nice to look at.

And here you can see the eastern part of Innsbruck, mostly residential as well as industry areas - and the river is of course the good ol' "Inn".
I hope you enjoyed these pics a bit - somehow I have the feeling that the next ones that we'll take will be ones with lots of snow ;)I'll be back from Dublin Wednesday, and I guess my next blog entry will contain heaps of pics...
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Ladies, enjoy yourself to the fullest and - don't eat too much ;)
